The second and final season of the prestigious Star Wars series is coming up quickly

Star Wars is in a rough spot at the moment. Both of the franchise's last two movies were disasters, with The Rise of Skywalker managing to annoy most everyone, and Solo becoming the franchise's first box office flop. In the five years since, we've been subjected to a pile of mostly bland TV series that the most hardcore fans have enjoyed, but which general audiences have gotten bored with. But in the midst of all that, we also got the first season of Andor, a rare Star Wars thing that was actually good on its own merits.

Created by Tony Gilroy, this series is all about the backstory for Cassian Andor, the Rebel spy played by Diego Luna in the 2016 spin-off film Rogue One. While Cassian will go on to become a hero of the Rebellion who helps steal the Death Star plans (and dies in the process), Andor is the sprawling tale about how this man got involved in the Rebellion against the Empire in the first place, and his career as part of it.

The wait for Season 2 has been pretty excruciating — it's already been more than two years since Season 1 ended. But that wait, fortunately for us, is coming to an end in 2025. Here's everything we know so far about Andor Season 2.

Andor Season 2 premiere date

The second and final season of Andor is slated to premiere on April 22, 2025, with new episodes dropping weekly. Season 2 will have 12 episodes, just like Season 1 did.

What is Andor Season 2's plot?

We haven't yet seen a teaser or gotten a plot summary from Disney, but we do already know some very important details about what will happen in Season 2 of Andor. The big one is that Season 2 will be the last season of this series, and will take us all the way up to the events of Rogue One. Since we don't know what Cassian was doing just before he showed up in Rogue One, we don't know specifically what this means yet. But we don't have to worry about cliffhangers, at least — Andor will conclusively end here.

But there's a lot of ground to cover between the end of Andor Season 1 and the beginning of Rogue One — four years, to be exact. So we should probably expect a time jump between seasons, and maybe more during the season as well.

The second thing we know about Season 2 is that it will show us how Cassian became pals with the Imperial enforcer droid K-2SO, a key character from Rogue One voiced by Alan Tudyk.

Andor Season 2 cast and crew

Everybody important who survived Season 1 will be popping back up in Season 2, but there are also a couple additional Rogue One characters who will appear: Ben Mendelsohn will reprise his role as the Death Star's builder, Orson Krennic, and Alan Tudyk will again provide the voice of the droid K-2SO.

Where Andor Season 1 left off

The Season 1 finale primarily revolved around the grand funeral of Maarva Andor, Cassian's adoptive mother, on the planet Ferrix. Maarva had left a fiery video message for the occasion, one which sparked an uprising against the local Imperials that had recently occupied the planet. In all the madness, Cassian is able to save his closest friend, Bix, and then he returns to Luthen, who was also on Ferrix for the funeral. Inspired by his mom's words, Cassian joins up with Luthen's rebellion for real.
