Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is speeding onto 4K Blu-ray on April 15, and it's giving fans a choice: Team Sonic or Team Shadow? Or maybe, you're both? That's right, this release is coming with not one, but two steelbook options to choose from. Whether you're loyal to the Blue Blur, or rooting for the ultimate rival, there's a design to suit your vibe. The Shadow variant is an Amazon exclusive, so you might want to act fast if you don't want to get left in the dust.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Steelbooks
Amazon/Getty ImagesAfter releasing in theaters on Dec. 20, we're getting preorder options available to us quickly. Maybe it's from the help of a recent announcement by Paramount. Yup, we've already got a release date for the fourth installment of the series, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is coming on March 19, 2027. We've still got a long way to go until then, so there's never been a better opportunity to pick up this iconic film.
The Sonic steelbook is everything you'd expect: bold, bright, and full of energy. Inside, you're getting the 4K Blu-ray, a standard Blu-ray, and a digital version of the movie, along with some bonus features to sweeten the deal. Think behind-the-scenes featurettes and maybe a few surprises. It's priced at $45, and you can already lock in your preorder at major retailers like Amazon and Walmart. The best part? Preorder price guarantees mean you'll snag the lowest price, even if it drops before release day.
Now, for the Shadow fans out there. The Shadow steelbook serves up the same package as Sonic's, but with red-hot vibes that match the character's edgy, no-nonsense style. As an Amazon exclusive, it's bound to be harder to snag, so if you've been waiting to represent your favorite anti-hero, don't wait too long. Like the Sonic edition, it includes 4K Blu-ray, a standard Blu-ray, digital copies, and all those juicy extras.
The standard 4K Blu-ray edition is also up for preorder at Walmart, priced a little more wallet-friendly at $36. There's even a DVD version if you're feeling retro, but oddly enough, no standalone 1080p Blu-ray release.
To top this all off, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is also available to rent ($20) and purchase ($25) on Prime Video. To get access, an Amazon Prime membership costs $14.99/month or $139 annually. This will get you access to thousands of daily deals in addition to special sporting events, deals events, and, of course, Prime Video.
